Toptable Group Shines Once Again at 26th Annual Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards
– Araxi Restaurant and Oyster Bar, Blue Water Cafe, CinCin Ristorante Recognized –

Vancouver, B.C. (April 22nd, 2015) – “We’re honoured to have brought home five Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards from the podium yesterday,” Michael Doyle, president of Toptable Group said this morning. “They are a real salute to the team members across our entire group, and I thank everyone very much, including the judges and our fellow competitors.”

Now in their 26th year, and unique in Canada, the Vancouver Magazine Restaurant Awards were convened at the Sheraton Wall Centre in downtown Vancouver. A large panel of expert judges acknowledged industry excellence and leadership in some 46 categories, as Araxi Restaurant and Oyster Bar, Blue Water Cafe, and CinCin Ristorante were honoured before an audience of leading restaurateurs, chefs, service staff, and industry professionals.

Toptable Group winners included Blue Water Cafe, which captured the Gold Award for ‘Best Seafood Restaurant’ for the eighth consecutive year under the culinary leadership of Executive Chef Frank Pabst, and the service leadership of Restaurant Director Stephan Cachard. In a fitting trifecta this year, Blue Water also won the Silver Award for ‘Best Upscale Restaurant’ and the Bronze Award for ‘Best Yaletown’.

Araxi Restaurant and Oyster Bar once again secured the Gold Award for ‘Best Whistler Restaurant’. This is the 14th time in 15 years of this award that Araxi has brought home the gold, and is an apt tribute to Executive Chef James Walt and Restaurant Director Neil Henderson. The Vancouver Magazine editors and judges commented: “We remain in awe of chef James Walt’s plates and the efforts of his crew, which ‘command the attention not only of Village Square, but of all food and wine enthusiasts.’”

CinCin Ristorante’s skillfully crafted modern Italian cuisine also resonated with the judges. Executive Chef Andrew Richardson and Restaurant Director Richard Luxton delivered the Bronze Award for ‘Best Upscale Italian Restaurant’.

Vancouver Magazine editors and judges said, “CinCin – now, remarkably, in its 25th year – seems only to have grown more praiseworthy in some judges’ estimation. ‘In the last year, chef Andrew Richardson has restored its former crack performance,” says one. “Some of this is dedication to quality of ingredients: the burraa from Pulia, when it’s available, is so fresh you might as well be in Italy.’”

One of Canada’s leading hospitality groups, Toptable Group has four elegant, yet approachable, restaurants in Vancouver and Whistler: Araxi, CinCin, Blue Water Cafe and West, as well as the chocolaterie, patisserie and café, Thierry. More information can be found online at www.toptable.ca.
