Now Open: Bar Oso and The Cellar by Araxi Take Their Place in Acclaimed Restaurant Group
– New Venues Bring Unique Culinary Offerings to Premier Mountain Resort –

Whistler, B.C. (November 13th, 2015) – After much anticipation, Bar Oso and The Cellar by Araxi have officially opened in Whistler, B.C. Just as North America’s premier mountain resort welcomes the first major snowfall of the season, the dual-concept property takes its place as the sixth venue – and the second in Whistler – for the acclaimed Toptable Group.

Michael Doyle, Toptable Group President, was joined by restaurant leaders for a ribbon cutting ceremony. “Today marks a significant milestone for Toptable Group,” said Doyle. “I am incredibly proud of our team who have seen this project through from conception to completion. It is their commitment to excellence in food, wine, and hospitality that will elevate guest experiences, creating two unique, enticing destinations.”

BarOso_NowOpen3Bar Oso offers a profusion of Spanish-influenced share plates, including raciones (platters), pintxos (skewers), charcuterie boards, and desserts; the menu a culmination of Araxi Restaurant’s Executive Chef James Walt’s passion for local ingredients and Chef Jorge Muñoz Santos’ provenance in Spanish cookery. The cuisine pairs perfectly with Bar Manager Jason Redmond’s selection of contemporary cocktails – including a gin and tonic feature menu – handcrafted using classical techniques and seasonal, locally-sourced ingredients, as well as inspired local and Spanish wines, and craft beers.

The Cellar by Araxi, located on the lower level, is a private space capable of hosting up to 120 guests in reception format, or up to 60 for sit-down lunch or dinner. The luxurious room, which can be subdivided for more intimate events, also has a show kitchen for interactive chef demonstrations. Heeding the needs of Araxi’s most discerning guests, The Cellar by Araxi provides a secondary, concealed entrance, ensuring the utmost exclusivity for its private-dining patrons.

Araxi’s renowned Restaurant Director Neil Henderson, along with Chef Walt, will oversee all aspects of the operation at both Bar Oso and The Cellar by Araxi, providing an extraordinary guest experience.

The dramatic interior design comes from Vancouver’s Box Interior Design while the build was completed by B.L.T. Construction Services.

Bar Oso – “oso” meaning “bear” in Spanish, an homage to Whistler’s wildlife – will be open daily from 5pm until late, transitioning to an earlier open time during the winter season.
