Thierry Creates ‘A Season For Sweethearts’

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Thierry Creates ‘A Season For Sweethearts’
– Love is in the Air at Vancouver’s Favourite Café –

Vancouver, B.C. (January 27th, 2014) – Beginning on Valentine’s Day, Thierry Vancouver’s definitive chocolaterie, patisserie and cafe – is launching a trifecta of events to treat the love of your life to something delicious and sensual.

On Friday, February 14th, have your cake and eat it too. Miniature cakes ideally sized for two will be available for one day only – Valentine’s Day.  Choose the rich ‘Romeo’, made lovingly by hand with chocolate génoise, ganache and a chocolate flower, or the ‘Juliet’, a mango cake with a hint of orange and fresh raspberry. Surprise that special someone with a beautifully packaged selection of macarons including the limited edition Valentine’s Day ‘Chocolate and Sour Cherry’ or signature trios of pink praline, lychee and vanilla; or Thierry’s Dragée Almonds, pretty in pink and made in Paris, which are perfectly coated in pink and white sugar. Put a personal touch on a timeless tradition with a customized box of chocolates of favourite flavours or simply have your loved one make their own selections while relaxing over a cocktail in the fully licensed café, which is open until midnight.

Just two days later sees the advent of the third annual celebration of Beignets de Carnaval at Thierry, which will run from February 16th through March 16th. Carnaval originates from 16th Century France and the beignet is now a staple Mardi Gras delicacy. Perhaps best known in New Orleans, beignets are sweet, square-shaped doughnuts sprinkled with a dusting of icing sugar, and are traditionally enjoyed with café au lait. These treasures are served with a choice of chocolate or caramel sauce, or fresh house-made raspberry jam, and will be available in the cafe from 11 am to 9 pm daily.

Thierry’s annual Jour du Macaron takes place this year on Thursday, March 20th. Following in the tradition of the international association ‘Relais Desserts’ and many other macaron festivals around the globe, Thierry will create a special macaron flavour for the day with ten per cent of all macaron proceeds donated to The St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation.

Last year Thierry sold over 4,700 macarons on Valentine’s Day and four times more cakes than on an average day. All featured items throughout the ‘Season for Sweethearts’ are available on select days only, while supplies last.
