 Restaurant Chef and Bar Manager Positions Announced for Bar Oso in Whistler
– Top Talent from Araxi Restaurant to Lead Culinary and Cocktail Program –

Whistler, BC (October 27, 2015) – Araxi Restaurant and Oyster Bar Executive Chef James Walt and Restaurant Director Neil Henderson are pleased to announce the appointment of two Araxi team members to senior positions at Bar Oso, soon to be Whistler’s premier gathering place.

“We are delighted to appoint Jorge Muñoz Santos as Chef and Jason Redmond as Bar Manager at Bar Oso. Both have played a large role in crafting the kitchen and bar menus,” Henderson said. “Jorge’s longtime experience cooking in his native Spain, including in his own family’s restaurant, and Jason’s lengthy international experience in wine and spirits, make for an ideal combination,” Walt added.

JorgeMunozSantos_wideMuñoz’s résumé is deep. He was educated at Madrid’s I.E.S. Hotel Escuela, and worked at two notable Spanish venues, Restaurante Chantarella and Hotel Casa Irene, before arriving at Araxi in 2011. He strongly believes in creating a complete sensory experience for guests. “I am very much inspired by my Spanish roots,” Muñoz said. “I’m so excited to share this through Bar Oso’s food and atmosphere.”

JasonRedmond_wideThe Wales-born Redmond has also gathered impressive credentials, including WSET Level 2 certification and ongoing sommelier training, gained while in front-of-house positions in Australia and Vancouver Island, and for the past three years, as Assistant Bar Manager at Araxi. “At Bar Oso, we’re using fresh, local ingredients to create cocktails that complement the Spanish-inspired cuisine,” said Redmond. “It’s exciting!”

Opening early November 2015, Bar Oso will offer a profusion of Spanish-influenced small plates, house-made charcuterie, handcrafted cocktails, and inspired wines in a casual, convivial setting.
